Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent deformation and uneven wall thickness from occurring by arranging shielding plates adjacently to a glass plate in an apparatus for pulling out the glass plate downward in the vertical direction, protecting the glass plate from convection and suppressing nonuniform cooling. CONSTITUTION:The above-mentioned apparatus for producing a glass plate is formed from a forming unit 2 for forming molten glass 3 into the shape of a plate, tension rollers 6 for drawing platy glass 3', shielding plates 7, etc. The aforementioned shielding plates 7 are made of a metal or refractory and arranged parallel and adjacently to the glass plate 3' from both sides thereof under the above-mentioned forming unit 2. The aforementioned forming unit 2 and tension rollers 6 are arranged in the vertical directions at an interval.
