Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device in data processing system to manage a power usage of the processor, and a command carried out to the computer. SOLUTION: A comparison is made by comparing the present situation in processor usage with the present processor speed. The present processor speed decreases by responding to the present processor speed greater than the present situation in processor usage. Compared with this, the present processor speed increases by responding to the present processor speed smaller than the present situation in processor usage. This method controls the processor speed to satisfy the situation in processor usage. As a result, when the smaller processor speed is required, the processor speed decreases to reduce the power usage. Furthermore, the power management can be based on the specific program running on the data processing system.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device in a data processing system for controlling the amount of power usage of a processor, and to provide an instruction executed by a computer. SOLUTION: Comparison is performed by comparing a current processor usage state with a current processor speed. The current processor speed is reduced in response to the current processor speed higher than the current processor usage state. In the comparison, the current processor speed is increased in response to the processor speed lower than the current processor usage state. The processor speed is adjusted so as to satisfy the processor usage state by this method. Thereby, when a relatively low processor speed is necessary, the processor speed is reduced to reduce the amount of power usage.
