Abstract:
A resource broker is used in managing workloads of a peer-to-peer distributed computing environment. The broker is responsible for distributing to a plurality of clients of the peer-to-peer distributed computing environment tasks of one or more workloads of one or more issuers of the environment. The tasks are processed by the clients using a runtime environment provided by the broker. The runtime environment of a client is generic to the one or more issuers and independent of an operating system of the client.
Abstract:

Abstract:
Methods and systems for generating database statistics. Table statistics in a metadata catalog of a source database system are observed, statistics generation costs utilizing a target database system are estimated, and source statistics generation costs utilizing a source database system are estimated. The statistics generation costs are compared and statistics generation queries by the target database system are triggered in response to the statistics generation costs utilizing the target database system having a predefined relationship with the source statistics generation costs utilizing the source database system. The statistics generation queries are performed by the target database system in response to the triggering by the source database system. The generated statistics are sent from the target database system to the source database system, the table statistics in a metadata catalog are updated based on the generated statistics, and the updated table statistics are used to optimize a query plan.
Abstract:
A computer system (100) comprising: a first database (103) and a second database (107), wherein the first database (103) stores received online data in a first data structure (125), wherein the second database (107) stores the online data in a second data structure (127), wherein the online data in the second structure (127) are obtained by applying an ETL transformation to the online data in the first data structure (125); a software component (135) for generating an analytical model using at least part of the online data stored in the second database (107), a mapping application that implements a method for scoring data comprising: inserting probe data into the first database; applying the ETL transformation to the probe data; determining the difference in the second database before and after the probe data got added; determining a mapping between the first and second data structures; and using the mapping to score data about to be stored in the first data structure.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A distributed system includes a client (102) and a server (120). The client includes a serialization module for serializing data (e.g. XML data) into a first communication format to communicate the data to a server. The server includes a communication format parser for de-serializing the data received into a server-internal communication format. The serialization module is also adapted for transforming the data into the server-internal communication format for a communication to the server. The client is adapted for indicating to the server that the client is capable of sending data in the server-internal communication format, and the server may be able to indicate its readiness to receive such data. The data may be sent either in the first or, alternatively, in the server-internal format.
