Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a "smart" access point (AP) which regularly checks connection with a network. SOLUTION: The AP checks connection with a network regularly, and when connection between the AP, and a network server is decided as being inappropriate, indication about the inappropriate connection is made available by all radio stations connected to the AP. Therefore, a connection option for connecting a radio station with the AP is reconfigured. In a preferred embodiment, the connection option is reconfigured by changing an SSID. When the AP detects an inappropriate network connection, it automatically changes the SSID, from a primary SSID to an alternate SSID. The radio station receives the alternate SSID. Since the connection option is configured so as to connect to the primary SSID, it immediately begins to search another AP, using the primary SSID in the system automatically, then connects to an AP having the strongest signal. The alternate SSID can be selected so as to help one who attempts restoration of the impaired AP/network connection to diagnose. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI

Abstract: The central computer (1) operates in conjunction with a transportation system data bank contained on a magnetic disc store (2). Additional processing units (6) allow interaction with other associated transportation systems. Local sub stations (4) connect over a data bus with the central computer. Each sub-station has a communications interface (10) with an internal programmed memory (9), arithmetic unit (8), input/output interface and an interface (12) to a store (17) containing data specific to the sub-station. A console (13) has a keyboard (15), printer (16) and visual display unit (14).
