Abstract: The central computer (1) operates in conjunction with a transportation system data bank contained on a magnetic disc store (2). Additional processing units (6) allow interaction with other associated transportation systems. Local sub stations (4) connect over a data bus with the central computer. Each sub-station has a communications interface (10) with an internal programmed memory (9), arithmetic unit (8), input/output interface and an interface (12) to a store (17) containing data specific to the sub-station. A console (13) has a keyboard (15), printer (16) and visual display unit (14).
