Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display an estimated value of the length of a time needed to download a linked page by providing a sign relating to a parameter in relation with a displayed user selectable link. SOLUTION: Multimedia information such as a web page having a user- selectable hyperlink is displayed. Namely, the system estimates the length of the time needed to complete downloading according to a factor such as a turn-around time. Then the system selects on sign and displays it. Namely, a web page containing an image 48 such as a photograph, three hyperlinks 50, 52 and 54, and a text main body 56 having no hyperlink is displayed. Then signs 58, 60, and 62 are shown nearby the hyperlinks 50, 52, and 54.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sufficiently inexpensive Web interface device as a means for many Web users such as ordinary consumers by making a CPU hold directories indicating where different Web pages are stored. SOLUTION: When a Web (Worldwide Web) page is recorded on a tape, a program storage part 40 instructs the CPU to allocate a space on the tape, put an entry in a directory 46, and forward the tape fast beyond a previously recorded page and start recording the page. The CPU 38 sends a command to an infrared-ray transmission device 48 to indicate the operation of a video cassette recorder 6. The tape is reproduced by sending a series of commands to the video cassette recorder 6 through the infrared-ray transmission device 48 by the CPU 38, and rewiring or fast forwarding is performed when necessary to reproduce the recorded Web page.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to see operation key even in a dark state or when ambient light is insufficient by rotating the cover of LCD transparent multi color LCD) within a range of specific acute dihedral angles to keys, and projecting colored light on the LCD in a proper spectrum charge area on a key for a certain period. SOLUTION: The cover 203 of the lap-top type computer is opened, a user starts operating it by key stock reception, and the lid 203 is positioned within a range of a 15 deg. critical angle to a base 207. Flash charging of a key 211 by the LCD 209 becomes possible. Namely, when the cover 203 is closed completely on the base 207, a switch is pressed completely in the base. The flash charge indicates the generation of a display of white or other colors on the LCD 209 and lighting 215 on the key top in a defined period. The display is applied to the LCD only for a time measured by a timing loop.

Abstract: AN ELECTRICAL PLUQ (10) SELECTIVELY INSERTABLE INTO RECEPTACLES HAVINQ DIFFERENT CONFIGURATIONS OF APERTURES FOR EFFECTING SELECTABLE ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS. A PLURALITY OF CONTACT PRONQS (20.22, 24, 30.32) HAVE EXTENDED POSITIONS IN WHICH THEY PROJECT EXTERIORLY OF A HOUSINQ (12, 14). EACH OF AN APPROPRIATE SUBSET OF THESE PRONGS IS ADAPTED AUTOMATICALLY TO SENSE AND ENTER MATCHING APERTURES OF A SELECTED RECEPTACLE. THE REMAINING PRONGS DURING SUCH ENTRY ARE MOVED INWARD 0? THE HOUSING (12, 14) BY CONTACT WITH AND MOVEMENT RELATIVE TO A SURFACE OF THE SELECTED RECEPTACLE ADJACENT TO THE APERTURES, AND CAUSE PRONGS ,OF THE SUBSET TO BE LOCKED IN THEIR EXTENDED POSITIONS AS THEY ENTER THE MATCHING APERTURES. Abstract: A POINTER SYSTEM PROVIDES MULTIPLE DISPLAY POINTERS (71, 72-78) THAT CAN BE CREATED AND IDENTIFIED BY A COMPUTER USER SUCH THAT EACH POINTER IS ASSOCIATED WITH A PARTICULAR APPLICATION AND LOCATION WITHIN AN APPLICATION. A USER CAN RECALL RESPECTIVE POINTERS AND POINTER LOCATIONS BY SELECTING A POINTER IDENTIFIER.ONE OR MORE OF THE POINTERS CAN BE DEFINED AS ANCHORED POINTERS (94, 98). WHICH ARE ASSOCIATED WITH ONE OR MORE USER ACTIONS. THE USER ACTIONS CAN COMPRISE A VARIETY OF FUNCTIONS. INCLUDING MOUSE BUTTON CLICKS. IN THIS WAY A USER CAN DEFINE ANCHORED POINTERS AND CARRY OUT A STRING OF USER ACTIONS BY SELECTING THE IDENTIFYI.NG CHARACTER OF AN ANCHORED POINTER. FIGURE 1
