    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make adjacent pixels of optical shutter non-transparent, except for a selected transparent cluster and to scan the contents of document, while moving this cluster of pixels on a screen according to a prescribed pattern by projecting an image through the optical shutter onto a photosensor. SOLUTION: When a light source 102 projects light on an optical shutter 104, the shutter 104 prepares a scanning cursor to perform scanning according to a prescribed scanning pattern. Whether the image to be scanned is to arrange an object between a sensor 106 and the shutter 104 or between the shutter 104 and the light source 102 is guided by preparing the image, while using the light source 102. The image which passed through the optical shutter 104 is detected by the photosensor 106, and the activated pixels of the optical shutter 104 are colored in black or non-transparent to the light source 102 but the non-activated pixels are made transparent. The light from the light source 102 is shielded by ink on a document.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To superimpose address specifying data information upon previously recorded track following servo information by shifting at least two transitions of a repeat transition couple in the parallel direction to transitions other than this repeat transition couple and including the address specifying information to be superimposed with the shift transitions. SOLUTION: A servo read head 26 is smaller than the width of a servo track 27, and a magnetic tape 20 is moved across a tape head assembly 24 in the horizontal direction. On the occurrence of this movement, a servo pattern of magnetic flux transition is detected by the servo read head 26, where an analog servo read signal is generated, and is changed into a position signal by a signal decoder 36 via a servo signal line 34 and is then sent to a servo control device 40 by a position signal line 38, from which a servo control signal is sent to a servo positioning mechanism of the head assembly 24 by a control line 42. Then, the head assembly 24 including the servo reading head 26 is moved vertically to a center line 30 of the servo track or the servo read head 26 is moved to the middle with respect to the center line 30.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the detection of a position signal error by determining the mutual time interval of plural prescribed magnetic flux transition couples in a servo pattern, generating a speed invariant position signal and detecting the position signal error so as to correlate a servo read head signal and the prescribed servo pattern recorded on a recording medium. SOLUTION: In a tape/head converting direction capable of reading the servo pattern, a servo read head 26 is relatively moved at the time of moving a tape straightly to the servo read head 26 along with the lengthwise direction of a center line 30 on a servo track. The servo read head 26 detects the servo pattern of a magnetic flux transition, generates an analog servo read signal and supplies it through a servo signal line 34 to a signal decoder 36. The signal decoder 36 processes the servo read signal, generates the position signal and supplies it to a servo controller 40.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more easily detect a position signal error by setting a width of a servo read head to be smaller than half a width of a narrowest data read head when the width is defined as a size of the head in a direction perpendicular to a conversion direction. SOLUTION: A relative move of a servo read head 26 in a conversion direction of a tape head whereby the servo read head can read a servo pattern is generated when a tape 20 moves straight with respect to the servo read head 26 in a longitudinal direction of a center line 30 of a servo track. The servo pattern of a magnetic flux transition is detected, and a servo read head signal of an analog form is generated and supplied to a signal decoder 36. The signal decoder 36 processes the signal and supplies via a position signal line 38 to a servo controller 40. The servo controller 40 monitors a position signal from the signal decoder 36 and generates a control signal necessary for the head to reach a desired position.
