    Abstract: 1,062,003. Magnetic storage devices. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATION. May 6, 1965 [May 22, 1964], No. 19133/65. Heading H3B. An elongated magnetic storage element has longitudinal anisotropic properties, information being stored in one direction or the other along the hard magnetic axis and non-destructively read-out by switching towards the easy axis. The elongated element may be in the form of a hollow cylinder, Fig. 1 (not shown), the stored information being read-out by applying a pulse to a coaxial conductor. The longitudinal magnetization may be established by current in an encircling winding 14 or by an adjacent permanent or electromagnetic field. A matrix of such storage elements may be formed, Fig. 4 (not shown).
