Abstract:
Security system for preventing a main computer device owned by an authorized user from beng used by unauthrorized people comprising an extractable security piece (10) which can be removed from the computer device by the authorized user, such an extractable security pice containing at least an extractable main private key (20) and a main PC public key (22), a PC security area (12) which is a non-extractable part of the computer device, such a PC security area containing at least a PC private key (34) and an extractable main public key (32) consitituting with the keys of the extractable security piece a Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), and processing means (14, 16) in each of the extractable security piece and the PC security area for carrying out a mutual authentication of the extractable security piece and the PC security area after the eytractable security piece, which had been previously removed, has been put back at its right location thereby enabling the authorized user to access data stored in the computer device.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a security system based on a public key infrastructure PKI preventing an unauthorized person from using a main computer unit belonging to an authorized user. SOLUTION: The public key infrastructure PKI is constructed of a removable security part including a main secret key and a main PC public key, and a PC security area including an extractable PC secret key and an extractable main public key. After the removable security part, which is already removed, is inserted into a remote computer unit, mutual authentication between the removable security part and the PC security area is carried out, and a user authorized in this way can access data stored in the computer unit. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for preparing and using virus-free certification to prevent infection with a computer virus. SOLUTION: Infection with viruses is prevented by receiving a virus-free certification request for a file from a server or client system, deciding whether the file is virus-free, preparing a virus-free certificate including a file signature to certify the file and returning the certificate to the requesting origin when the file is declared as virus-free a certificate authority. In addition, whether the virus-free certification is related to the file is decided, the virus-free certification including a certification signature is authenticated and the file with the file signature to be declared as virus-free by the virus-free certificate authority is authenticated in the server or client system.
Abstract:
Data transmission system for transmitting packets of data from a source workstation ( 10 ) to a destination workstation ( 18 ) wherein the packets of data are transmitted over at least an IP network ( 14 ) between an ingress node ( 16 ) connected to the source workstation and an egress node ( 20 ) connected to the destination workstation, wherein each router within the intermediary nodes along the data path from the ingress node to the egress node determines the best route in a routing table defined by the contents of a field contained in each packet of data being received. For this, the router of the ingress node comprises a configuration table which defines the contents of the TOS field in function of information associated with the 4/5 level protocol such as TCP or UDP.
Abstract:
Coupling device for the connection of a Data Circuit Terminating Equipment DCE to a given Public Switched Telephone Network PSTN and to a local telephone set. The coupler includes means for providing said local telephone set with DC current whereby the microphone and the headphone of the telephone can be used respectively for transmitting and receiving vocal messages from the a DTE which is connected to said DCE. The invention also provides a DCE for the connection of a DTE toga a PSTN and to a local telephone set including a coupler circuit having the electronic components matching the electric requirements of a given PSTN. The coupler further includes means for providing the telephone set with DC current whereby vocal messages can be transmitted and received from the DTE to the telephone set. The invention further provides a DCE for the connection of a DTE to a PSTN and to a local telephone set which includes means for removably attaching a coupler circuit having the electronic components matching the electrical requirements of a given PSTN and further including means for providing the telephone set with DC current whereby vocal messages can be transmitted and received from the telephone set to the DTE.
Abstract:
A method and system are disclosed for generating and using a virus-free file certificate. The method, for use in a virus-free certificate authority ( 102 ), includes the steps of: receiving ( 300 ) a virus-free certificate request for a file from a server ( 101 ) or a client ( 100 ) system; determining ( 301 ) whether the file is virus-free or not; if the file is declared virus-free by the virus-free certificate authority ( 102 ): generating ( 303, 304 ) a virus-free certificate ( 200 ) including a file signature ( 207 ) for certifying that said file is declared virus-free by the virus-free certificate authority ( 102 ); sending ( 306 ) back in response to the virus-free certificate request the virus-free certificate ( 200 ). The method, for use in a server ( 101 ) or client ( 100 ) system, includes the steps of: determining ( 400 ) whether a virus-free certificate ( 200 ) is associated with a file; if a virus-free certificate is associated with the file: authenticating ( 404 ) the virus-free certificate ( 200 ), said virus-free certificate including a certificate signature ( 206 ); authenticating ( 407 ) the file, said virus-free certificate ( 200 ) including a file signature ( 207 ), said file signature certifying that said file has been declared virus-free by a virus-free certificate authority ( 102 ).
Abstract:
Coupling device (150) according to the invention for connecting a DCE to a PSTN including the electronic components matching the electric requirements of a specific PSTN. The coupling device comprises plugging means for removably connecting the latter to the DCE, means (227) for storing an identification code corresponding to a specific type of PSTN to which the coupler is intended to be connected to. The coupling device (150) further comprises means (226) responsive to a control signal received from the DCE for transmitting the identification code to the DCE. The DCE connected to the coupling device includes processing means and a storage for storing tables, each table comprising data characterizing a specific PSTN which the DCE is intended to operate with. The DCE reads the identification code during an identification phase by transmitting the control signal and selects in response to said reading the appropriate table corresponding to the coupling device. Therefore, by simply connecting an appropriate coupling device, a same DCE can be easily adapted to operate with a specific PSTN. Moreover, since the voluminous components are located into the coupling device, the DCE can be easily integrated, for example in one workstation.
