Abstract: A method of associating user interface elements (202) e.g. menu items or push buttons or voice menus with ancillary information (204) e.g. help information or an alternative language for the interface element, to the user interface elements. The method includes creating one or more items of user interface element ancillary information; receiving a request for user interface clement ancillary information, the request identifying the context (e.g. an ID for the interface element) in which the information is to be used; searching the one or more items of user interface element ancillary information for items matching the context in which the information is to be used; and returning one or more items of user interface element ancillary information matching the context in which the information is to be used. Crowd sourcing may be used to create ancillary information and external search services may also be used.
