An integrated circuit comprising a number of units 22. 23, 24 has associated with. each unit an output transistor T1, T2, T3 whose emitter is connected to an output terminal 26, 29, 30 and via a resistor R1, R2, R3 to an electronic switch S1, S2, S3 shown as a diode. When a voltage is applied to line 27 such as to make the diodes conductive the transistors operate as separate emitter followers and can be used to drive short transmission lines which do not have to be terminated in their characteristic impedances. If the diodes are biassed off, the emitter resistors are isolated and the transistors can be used to drive long matched lines. Similarly, if the outputs of several circuits are to be paralleled and only one emitter resistor is needed, the resistors in the other circuits are isolated by biassing off the corresponding diodes. The diodes may be replaced by transistors (Fig. 3, not shown).
