Abstract: PURPOSE: To make the head carriage assembly thin by fixing a mount board of a suspension supporting a head slider to a side face of an arm coupled with a head positioning device including a voice coil and a motor or the like. CONSTITUTION: A suspension 4 supporting a magnetic head slider 2 used to read and write data from/to a magnetic disk is fixed to a side face 6S of a rigid arm 6 made of an aluminum die-cast coupled with a head positioning device including a voice coil and a motor or the like positioning the magnetic head onto an object rack of a magnetic disk. Since the suspension is fixed to the side face 6S of the arm in this way, it is not required to make a thread hole to the arm in the vertical direction and the thickness of the head carriage assembly is made thin.
