Abstract: An ink jet printing apparatus in which a pressure generated ink stream is produced from an opening through a piezoelectric transducer which produces axial vibration when energized to produce a stream of uniform ink drops. A reference electrode is provided in electrical contact with the ink and a character designating signal is coupled between a charge electrode placed adjacent the drop break-off point and the reference electrode to selectively charge individual ink drops proportional to the character designating signals. Filter means are provided for separating the chemically active part of the ink system from the remaining part of the ink system. The effects of electrolysis and corrosion within the ink system are eliminated.

Abstract: 1277173 Electro-photographic cleaning apparatus INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 16 Nov 1970 [29 Dec 1969] 54354/70 Heading G2H Residual developer is cleaned from a drum 1 by pressurized gas supplied through an apertured tube 28 which is reciprocated along its axis. A vacuum source connected to a pipe 23 sucks away the removed developer. Tube 28 may be reciprocated by an A. C. electromagnetic arrangement Fig. 7 (not shown) and a similar arrangement, Fig. 8 (not shown) preferably provides additional tube movement by oscillating the tube about its axis through a limited angular displacement. The pressurized gas cleaner may be used in conjunction with a lamp or corona discharge device (not shown) or with a selectively operable brush (36) Fig. 5 (not shown) or with a selectively operable cleaning web (42), Fig. 6 (not shown) optionally impregnated with wax, solid or liquid solvent, or abrasive.
