    Abstract: 1281780 Data transfer; ticket issuing INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 3 Dec 1970 [29 Dec 1969] 57382/70 Heading G4T [Also in Division B6] Magnetic and embossed information on a card 28, e.g. a credit card, a further card 30 and settable information carriers 36 is transferred to a record form 32, e.g. an airline ticket, by aligning a magnetic stripe 54 of the form with magnetic stripes 48, 50 and 40 of the cards 28, 30 and carriers 36 respectively and passing over the form a carriage 56 comprising a magnetic transfer head 62 and rollers 58, 60. The rollers press form 32 against embossed information on cards 28, 30 and the exposed embossings 38 of carriers 36. Form 32 may have a carbon layer or be carbon impregnated. In the embodiment shown, carriers 36 are wheels settable by move ment of respective knobs 42 along slots 44. The visible information set is displayed at windows 46. Magnetic transfer head 62 comprises different strength permanent magnets (64, 66, 68), Fig. 2 (not shown), e.g. of rubber based barium ferrite, between cold rolled steel plates (70, 72, 74, 76).

    Abstract: A programmable logic array (PLA) comprising a search array in which the logical AND of one or more inputs (product terms) is formed and coupled to a read array in which each output is formed from a logical OR of one or more of the inputs from the search array. The array has a plurality of output circuits and each output circuit comprises a plurality of physical gates (one gate for each product term input), a common drain diffusion, a load device and an output connection. A plurality of output circuits is formed in each column of the read array and, where circuits overlap so that they cannot be placed in the same column, they are placed in adjacent columns. Where a plurality of outputs share a common product term, gates driven by the same product term are placed in adjacent columns, where they are connected by metal to the common product term ouptut from the search array. The ability to take outputs from the top, side or bottom of the array and to take a plurality of outputs from each column of the read array minimizes the area required for the array and produces performance improvements in array operation.

    Abstract: In a time division multiplexed loop communication system, a plurality of terminals share one or more channels of a multichannel frame, with a second plurality of terminals assigned to different channels. The communications controller may dedicate one or more of the channels to one of the terminals automatically and dynamically. Alternatively, one of a plurality of terminals assigned to a particular channel group can interrupt the controller and become automatically selected for communication.
