Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately comply with requests for both security (protection of security) and usability (operability) of a system in its power saving mode. SOLUTION: A task can be instantaneously restarted with no input needed for a password in a resumption mode when a user has a reaction such as a key input operation, etc., in a comparatively short time after a system shifted to its suspension mode. Furthermore, the system security is least threatened even with no collation of passwords when a resuming request is received in an early time since the user may not possibly be out of his desk. On the contrary, if a resuming request is received when a sufficiently long time passed after the system shifted to its suspension mode, the user is requested to input his password. In such a case, the collation of passwords is indispensable to keep the system security since the user may possibly be out of his desk.
