Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for normalizing character information in electronic document with which the use of a font can be normalized for storing and exchanging information without deteriorating the quality of the information concerning a document prepared while using various fonts different for each platform or electronic document preparation system. SOLUTION: This method for normalizing character information in electronic document is composed of a phase for automatically generating a font contrast table to be referred to in the case of real font replacement by comparing the font under using in the electronic document with a font in a target font set to be replaced, a phase for presenting the automatically generated font contrast table to a user and making the user correct the error of the contrast table and a phase for really replacing the font in the electronic document based on the corrected font contrast table.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable even a handicapped person or an aged person having handicap in the kinetic functions of hands/arms to specify an object by pointer operation using a pointing device. SOLUTION: The method is provided for aiding pointer operation for moving a pointer to the position of a required object by a pointing device. In the device, a pointer advancing direction for advancing the pointer is detected from the movement of the pointer by the pointing device (S2), objects existing in a fixed range in the pointer advancing direction are displayed as object candidates to be specified (S3), an object is specified from the displayed object candidates (S4), and the pointer is moved to the position of the specified object (S5).

Abstract: To provide a method for assisting a user to operate a pointer, which enables even a person who is handicapped in his/her hand and arm and an aged person to select an object by operating the pointer by a pointing device. The method for assisting the user to operate the pointer of the present invention is directed to the method for assisting the user to operate the pointer so as to move the pointer onto a desired object by the pointing device. In this method for assisting the user to operate the pointer, a pointer movement direction in which the user wants to move the pointer is detected in accordance with a movement of the pointer by the pointing device (Step S2). Candidate objects located within a predetermined range of the pointer movement direction are displayed (Step S3). The object is selected from the displayed candidate objects (Step S4). The pointer is moved onto the selected object (Step S5).

Abstract: Character information is standardized in electronic documents. By comparing a font used in an electronic document and a font within a target font set to be provided as a replacement font, a font comparison table referred to during actual font replacement is automatically generated. The font comparison table is presented to the user, in order for the user to amend errors in the comparison table. The font in the electronic document is replaced based on the amended font comparison table.
