Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system capable of obtaining a trustworthy evaluation result for a bandwidth which a client can acquire. SOLUTION: A method, a program, and a server for evaluating a bandwidth of network connection between a client and the server comprises a request to the server for continuously supplying a first and a second objects to the client from the server. The first and the second objects are transmitted to the client. The client determines a time interval between distribution of the first and the second objects. The time interval is used together with an information about the size of the second object to evaluate the bandwidth. The first and the second objects are transmitted from a content distribution network server close to the ISP (Internet Service Provider) of the client in architecture so as to improve reliability of bandwidth evaluation. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for allocating memory in a data processing system. SOLUTION: An MPS configuration table 510 showing the hardware resources of a system including a physical memory 500 of the system is generated in response to a boot event. Then the MPS configuration table 510 is corrected so as to distinguish only one part of the physical memory 500 of the system. By this, the rest of the physical memory 500 is concealed and control of the concealed portion is not carried out by an operating system. Then a memory allocation request is initiated by an application program executed in the system, and a device driver accessed by the application program maps the physical memory 500 from the concealed portion to an application virtual address allocated to satisfy the allocation request.

The plurality of processing nodes are coupled together by a system interconnect. The data processing system further includes a configuration utility residing in data storage within at least one of the plurality of processing nodes. Abstract: A server within a collaborative data processing environment transmits a priority value to a first client in response to a first request from the first client. A second request from the first client, which includes that priority value, and a third request from a second client are then received by the server. Thereafter, the server provides the second request with preferential treatment, relative to the third request, based on the priority value of the second request. In an illustrative embodiment, the priority value is transmitted to the first client within a Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) cookie.
