Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel improved radio frequency power amplifier that is used for a battery-driven handset unit of a radio communication system. SOLUTION: This radio frequency power amplifier has a small power signal amplification path and a high power signal amplification path and is used for the battery-driven handset unit of the radio communication system. Depending on whether the handset is placed within a prescribed distance from a base station or outside the prescribed distance, a logic bias means in the handset selects the small power signal amplification path or the high power signal amplification path. Thus, a signal from the handset received by the base station reaches a required power level.
