Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To promote the effect of feed-back in terms of the touch of sense by deciding whether or not a cursor controller constituted to control the movement of a cursor in a computer display is stimulated in terms of the sense of touch and operating a sense of touch generator. SOLUTION: An operating system 18 controls the graphical presentation of the computer display 30 and displays a graphical object 32 by responding to data inputted from the cursor controller 22 and responding to an application being access possible to the operating system. When the cursor crosses the boundary of the graphic object 32, it is decided whether the cursor controller 14 is vibrated or stimulated in terms of the sense of touch so that the sense of touch generator 12 is operated. Thus, the positioning speed and precision of the cursor 34 is improved.

Abstract: The electrical plug is selectively insertable into receptacles having different configurations of apertures for effecting selectable electrical connections. A number of contact prongs have extended positions in which they project exteriorly of a housing. Each of an appropriate subset of these prongs is adapted automatically to sense and enter matching apertures of a selected receptacle. The remaining prongs during such entry are moved inward of the housing by contact with and movement relative to a surface of the selected receptacle adjacent to the apertures, and cause the prongs of the subset to be locked in their extended positions as they enter the matching apertures.

Abstract: A strain sensitive columnar transducer for a data entry keyboard contains a column upstanding from the keyboard. Strain sensitive orthogonally oriented patterns are formed on a single flexible planar sheet which is sliced to place each of the patterns on a separate tab. The planar sheet is forced over the column so that the patterns lie up against the sides of the column to measure force exerted on the column.

Abstract: YO9-90-172 An interactive display system including: a first display; a movable display device having a second display which is substantially smaller than the first display, an input device for inputting information, and a position sensor for providing position information of the movable display device relative to the first display; and a computer, coupled to the first display and the movable display device, for storing image information for the first and second displays. The computer supplies stored image information to the second display in response to the position information provided by the position sensor of the movable display. In another embodiment, the first display is replaced with a model or a physical object, and the computer supplies image information to a display in response to position information provided by the position sensor representing the position of the movable display device relative to the model or physical object.
