Abstract: In a high performance print magnet, magnet yokes are independently resiliently mounted on a common support, the yoke is tapered at the pole face to concentrate the flux attracting the armature, and the push rod used to actuate a pivoted print hammer is spring biased to hold the magnet armature against a back stop and prevent the push rod from following the print hammer after the magnet armature seals.

Abstract: CUP PRINTER A serial printer which includes a print element which traverses back and forth in front of the paper. The print element is in the shape of a cup. The sides of the cup are formed by a plurality of fingers, each of which has a number of characters thereon. A hammer is located in the center of the cup. The fingers can be selectively raised whereby any one of the characters on each finger can be moved to the print position. Printing is accomplished by rotating the cup so that the desired finger is located between the hammer and the paper. If necessary, the finger is raised so that the desired character is positioned in the print position. The hammer is then fired to print the desired character.

Abstract: 1327358 Selective printing INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 12 June 1972 [1 July 1971] 27303/72 Heading B6F In a printer having print hammers 16 striking a document 14 against type fingers and provided with a platen 40 to support the type fingers, the platen is displaceable out of alignment with the type characters on the type fingers to permit a line of type to be viewed. The type fingers are formed on an endless type band 24 driven round wheels as at 34. The platen 40 forms part of a T-shaped structure 12 pivoted at 44 and displaceable by a pull rod 56 actuated by a solenoid. The apparatus is applied to a keyboard operated machine wherein control circuitry acts to lower the platen whenever a delay of 1À2 seconds is detected between key operations.
