    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To erase an after-image arising in cutting off a system power supply with an inexpensive circuit construction without securing a special power supply. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device has a gate line 32 connected to a gate for a transistor 31a in an active switch element, a node A to supply gate low voltage Vgl thereto, a P channel transistor 37 connected between the node A and a charge accumulating means 36, a node C connected to its gate, a voltage supply means 38 to supply voltage to the node C for keeping the P channel transistor in a highly resistant condition while power voltage Vdd is supplied to the liquid crystal display device, a voltage dropping means 39 to set the node C to such voltage that the P channel transistor is in a low resistant condition with capacity coupling, depending on the change of the power voltage Vdd, when there is no voltage supply, a control means 33 to supply charge from the charge accumulating means through the node A to the gate line for making the transistor 31a in a low resistant state.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a multi-gradation thin film transistor TR liquid crystal display device (TFT/LCD) which doesn't increase the chip area and has a driver consisting of a small number of circuit elements. CONSTITUTION: A driver IC which drives data lines of a TFT/LCD panel is provided with power sources, which have reference potentials Va and Vb corresponding to at least two different gradations, and switches SWa and SWb , which selectively supply their potentials to data lines. When the output potential corresponding to an arbitrary gradation between prescribed gradations is denoted as Vc , these switches are alternately switched with a prescribed period in a ratio where the potential Vc proportionally divides potentials Va and Vb , thereby outputting the potential Vc to data lines. Consequently, a ratio of switching of two switches is only properly changed to obtain the output potential corresponding to the arbitrary gradation between prescribed gradations.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To display more gradations in an active matrix type liquid crystal display device. CONSTITUTION: A driving circuit for driving plural data lines on a display panel comprises plural sections and each section includes a sample and hold circuit 22. The circuit 22 has plural switches Sw1 to Sw4 and respectively different lamp signals Vr1 to Vr4 are individually applied from a lamp generation circuit 24 shared by all sections to respective switches Sw1 to Sw4. Although these lamp signals Vr1 to Vr4 respectively include plural voltage levels, an waveform shifted in each prescribed level is obtained as a whole. A decoder 21 controls one of the switches Sw1 to S24 so as to select the voltage level of specific order in one of the lamp signals Vr1 to Vr4 in accordance with the gradation data of a latch 20. An output from the circuit 22 is sent to a data line 7a through a buffer 23.
