Abstract: A method for checking proper functioning of a household appliance (1 ) for washing and/or drying articles. The household appliance (1 ) performs at least the steps of: i) carrying out a test cycle to completion, said test cycle being: - selectable by means of a selector (4) on the household electrical appliance (1 ); - alternative to the remaining washing and/or drying programs that can be selected by means of a user interface (5) of the household appliance (1 ); ii) storing any malfunctions detected during the step of carrying out said test cycle; iii) supplying output that indicates all malfunctions encountered during the step of carrying out said test cycle.
