Abstract: The line interface provides connection between a host (H) and a device (D). A detection component distinguishes between at least two different base configurations with correspond to different interface standards such as USB, and ISO 7816. The line interface device comprises at least three lines of input signal between a host (H) and a device (D), with a detection and control component (3). The control component is brought into action following a configuration of the interface, on the side of the host, by the detection component in order to achieve matching of the host with the device. The detection component distinguishes between at least two different base configurations with correspond to different interface standards. The potential applied to two lines is determined according to the function of the control, operating in one of the two different standards. The standards used may be a USB standard, and an ISO 7816 standard.
