Abstract: The method involves measuring time dependent operating parameters as measurement curves. Time independent measurement counts are generated from the measured operating parameters. The time independent measurement counts are input into a classifier which differentiates between normal conditions of the operating system and abnormal conditions of the operating system. The classifier is preferably a neural network. There is also provided a method of filtering out abnormal vectors. The distance from each vector to each other vector is determined by a distance measurement. Those vectors whose distance exceeds a threshold value are filtered out.
