Abstract: The present invention relates to a receiver for receiving at least one of a plurality of channels in a communication system, the receiver comprising: an adaptive matched filter (79) for receiving communication signals and producing a filtered signal by using a weighting signal; a rake receiver (101) for receiving communication signals and a pseudo-noise signal (931) generated for a selected channel and producing a filter weighting signal; means for defining the filter weighting signal with a correction signal (119), said correction signal to produce the weighting signal used by said adaptive matched filter; a channel despreader (85) for said selected channel coupled to said adaptive matched filter output for despreading said filtered signal using the pseudo-noise signal generated for said selected channel to produce a despread channel signal (95) of said selected channel; a pilot channel despreader (87) for a pilot channel coupled to said adaptive matched filter output for despreading said filtered signal using a pseudo-noise signal generated for said pilot channel to produce a despread pilot signal (135) of said pilot channel; a hard decision processor (121) in association with a complex conjugate processor (123) for receiving the despread channel signal of said selected channel and producing said correction signal; and means (157) for producing a phase correction signal (183) utilizing at least said despread pilot signal, said phase correction signal being applied to produce phase-corrected channel signals.

Abstract: Un método para recibir una señal transmitida mediante una unidad de comunicación, en un sistema de comunicación de CDMA, en el que la señal transmitida incluye una pluralidad de códigos cortos, siendo un código corto él que tiene una longitud más corta que el código de dispersión utilizado para discriminar comunicaciones individuales, y la unidad de comunicación transmite repetitivamente al menos un código corto que es actualizado periódicamente, cuyo método se caracteriza por las operaciones de: a. obtener una estimación de una función de distribución de probabilidad, PDF, del ruido de fondo (418) con el uso del mismo código corto actualizado periódicamente que es transmitido por la unidad de comunicación; b. utilizar dicha estimación de la PDF del ruido de fondo (416) para ajustar la relación de posibilidad de acuerdo con la señal transmitida: c. comparar dicha relación de posibilidad con un umbral predeterminado (416), para determinar si dicha relación de posibilidad excede al umbral predeterminado; d. repetir las operaciones a - c hasta que dicha relación de posibilidad exceda a dicho umbral predeterminado.
