Abstract: A function generating system such as a telephone ringer, which is sound or voice-controlled in that when the signal is first applied by the caller it results in a series of digits or other sounds emitted by the receiver. The caller follows each of these sounds by either a responsive sound or silence. When the responsive sounds correspond to a programmed code, the function is activated.
