Abstract:
What is described herein is a stable microemulsion concentrate and composition for delivery of an active biocide/disinfectant in an aqueous medium providing sustained release of the active. The composition is effective against both bacteria and fungi.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a broad spectrum antimicrobial composition, effective against gram negative and gram positive bacteria and fungi, which comprises a synergistic composition comprising iodopropynyl butyl carbamate and a bicyclic hydroxymethyl oxazolidine containing less than 0.1% of free formaldehyde.
Abstract:
The present invention is a directed to a composition and method of solubilizing and stabilizing a liquid preservative composition containing an alkyl paraben ingredient which comprises including polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) in said composition. The compositions are particularly useful in personal care products.
Abstract:
An antimicrobial composition of 3-iodo-2-propynylbutyl carbamate (IPBC) and 1,3-butylene glycol (BG) as solvent, in a defined weight ratio, preferably 9-11% IPBC and 89-91% BG, and personal care formulations including the composition in an amount of about 0.1-0.2% therein, at a pH of 4-9, is described.
Abstract:
2106375 9217158 PCTABS00016 A process for the production of PVP-H2O2 products in the form of free-flowing powders, or a free-standing, porous solid or foam, is described. To prepare free-flowing powders, a fluidized bed is maintained at a reaction temperature of about room temperature to 60 ·C and is contacted with finely divided droplets of a 30 to 85 % by weigth aqueous H2O2 solution. Preferably the fluidized bed temperature is about 35·-45 ·C, a 5-70 % H2O2 solution is used, and the feed rate of introduction of the H2O2 solution is about 5-50 g/minute/kg PVP present. The PVP-H2O2 product preferably contains about 15-24 %, preferably 18-22 %, H2O2 (1:1 molar ratio) and less than about 5 % water.
Abstract:
What is described herein are antimicrobial compositions which are defined blends of a l,2-diol and pbenoxyethanol which show broad activity against bacteria, fungi and mold spores. This activity is potentiated by the additio n thereto of small amounts of a co-biocide for which the blend acts as a delivery system for the otherwise water-insoluble co-biocide.
Abstract:

Abstract:
The hydroxybenzoate compounds of this invention are defined by the formula:wherein Y is hydrogen, hydroxy, halo, a C1 to C6 alkyl or a C2 to C6 alkyl ether;R is a C4 to C6 mono- or di-olefinically unsaturated hydrocarbon radical, a C4 to C7 mono- or di-acetylenically unsaturated hydrocarbon radical or a C2 to C3 acetylenically unsaturated hydrocarbon radical when at least one of X and Y is other than hydrogen andX is hydrogen, hydroxy, halo, a C1 to C6 alkyl, a C2 to C6 alkyl ether or in which A is selected from the group of X,B is selected from the group of Y andR1 is hydrogen, hydroxy, C1 to C6 alkyl, C1 to C6 alkoxy or -COOR2 in which R2 is C1 to C6 alkyl, a C2 to C6 olefinically unsaturated hydrocarbon radical or a C2 to C7 acetylenically unsaturated hydrocarbon radical. The invention also pertains to food, beverage, cosmetic, agrichemical and topically applied pharmaceutical compositions containing an effective preservative amount of the hydroxy aliphatically unsaturated benzoate having the formula:wherein X' is selected from the group of X; Y' is selected from the group of Y and R4 is a C2 to C6 mono- or di-olefinically unsaturated hydrocarbon radical or a C2 to C7 mono- or di-acetylenically unsaturated hydrocarbon radical.
