    Abstract: A method for producing a hollow foam molding having a thin and uniform wall thickness, including extruding a foamable melt containing a polypropylene resin having an equilibrium compliance J eo of 0.5 × 10 -3 to 1.8 × 10 -3 Pa-1 and a swell ratio S w of 2.5 or less and a physical blowing agent through a die to obtain a parison having a softened polypropylene resin foam layer, placing the parison in a mold, and blowing a gas into the parison to obtain a hollow foam molding having a hardened polypropylene resin foam layer with an apparent density of 0.35 to 0.65 g/cm3.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method for continuously producing an expansion-molded article, comprising feeding foamed particles between a belt continuously traveling along the upper surface within a passageway defined by structural members and having a rectangular form in section and a belt continuously traveling along the lower surface within the passageway, and then causing the foamed particles to successively pass through a super heated steam-feeding region and a cooling region within the passageway. The foamed particles used are foamed particles of a polyolefin resin, in which a recovery factor from compression defined by the equation (1): wherein V1 is the original bulk volume of the foamed particles, and V2 is a bulk volume of the foamed particles measured upon elapsed time of 10 seconds after the foamed particles are compressed to a bulk volume of 60% on the original bulk volume, and the compressive force is then removed, is at least 80%. The foamed particles are transferred to the super heated steam-feeding region after the foamed particles are compressed on the upstream side of the super heated steam-feeding region, and then released from a part or the whole of the compression. An apparatus for producing the expansion-molded article is also disclosed.

    Abstract: A process for the production of expanded resin particles is disclosed, wherein an aqueous dispersion containing expandable particles of a polyolefin resin is discharged at a temperature higher than the softening point of the resin from a high pressure condition to a low pressure condition to expand the expandable particles and wherein the expandable particles contain fine particles of an inorganic material coated with an agent selected from isopropyltriisostearic titanate, tetraoctadecyl titanate, acetoalkoxyaluminum diisopropylates, stearic acid, methyltrimethoxysilane, methyltriethoxysilane, ethyltriethoxysilane, phenyltriethoxysilane and vinyltriethoxysilane.

The base resin consists of: (i) a resin composed of polypropylene resin (a) (20-70 wt.%) with melt tension of >= 98 mN and melt flow rate of 0.5-15 g/10 minutes and polypropylene resin (b) (30-80 wt.%) with melt tension of less than 30 mN and melt flow rate of 2-30 g/10 minutes; (ii) resin composed of polypropylene resin (c) (30-70 wt.%) with melt tension of 30-98 mN and melt flow rate of 2-15 g/10 minutes and 30-702 wt.% of (b); (iii) resin composed of 20-70 wt.% (a) and less than 80 wt.% of (c); or (iv) resin composed of (a) (5-65 wt.%) (b) (30-78 wt.%), and (c) (5-65 wt.%). The resin has a composition within the bounds (including the lines) of a quadrangle ABCD defined by the four xyz coordinates A (17, 78, 5), B (5, 72, 23), C (5, 30, 65) and D (65, 30, 5), where resin (a) is x wt.%, (b) is y wt.% and (c) is z wt.% in a triangular component graph in which the upper triangle is marked as 100 wt.% (a), the lower left vertex is marked as 100 wt.% (b) and the lower right vertex is 100 wt.% (c).
