Abstract:
A resin composition for producing a color filter by an ink jet system contains (A) a colorant, (B) a binder resin and (C) a solvent having a boiling point of 245 DEG C or more at normal pressure. The color filter from the resin composition is produced by discharging the above resin composition from an ink jet head into light transmitting regions on the surface of a transparent substrate having banks formed thereon to store the resin composition in the light transmitting regions defined by the banks; forming a pixel pattern by drying the resin composition stored in the light transmitting regions; and forming a protective layer to cover the pixel pattern.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to enhance the application uniformity, sensitivity, developability, pattern shape, etc., at the time of forming a pixel array and to form this image array having the excellent balance of saturation and lightness by incorporating pigments consisting of specific azo system pigments and cyclic diketone compds. into coloring agents. SOLUTION: The coloring agents, alkaline soluble resins, polyfunctional monomers and photopolymn. initiators are incorporated into this compsn. and at least one kind selected from a group consisting of the azo system pigments expressed by formula I or formula II and the cyclic diketone compds. are incorporated therein. In the formulas I, II, X denotes 1 to 20C univalent arom. unit hydrogen groups or its substd. derivatives, etc., R . R denote hydrogen atoms or univalent 1 to 5C hydrocarbon groups or their substd. derivatives; Y denotes a bivalent combination group; Z denotes a 1 to 20C univalent arom. unit hydrogen group or its substd. derivat., etc.; R to R denote hydrogen atoms or 1 to 5C univalent hydrocarbon groups or their substd. derivatives; R denotes a univalent substituent.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation-sensitive resin compsn. which can be developed with an alkali aq. soln., which has high resolution, high sensitivity and various characteristics such as heat resistance, chemical resistance and transparency, which can form partition walls in the production of a color filter using an ink-jet recording technique so that an ink as a coloring agent does not spread out of the objective region for coloring and that an ink can be sprayed and applied with excellent surface smoothness in a pixel. SOLUTION: This resin compsn. consists of (A) a fluorine-contg. copolymer of hexafluoropropylene, unsatd. carboxylic acid and/or unsatd. carboxylic acid anhydride and unsatd. compd. which is copolymerizable with the above compds., (B) an acid producing compd. which produces an acid by irradiation of radiation, (C) a crosslinking compd., (D) a fluorine-contg. org. compd. except the component (A), and (E) an org. solvent which dissolves the components (A), (B), (C) and (D).

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition used for manufacture of a color filter by an ink-jet system which makes a forming process of a pixel pattern simple and low-cost, a color filter having the pixel pattern formed with the resin composition by the ink-jet system and a method for manufacturing the color filter by the ink-jet system utilizing the resin composition. SOLUTION: The resin composition for an ink-jet system color filter contains a coloring agent, a binder resin and a solvent with >=250 deg.C boiling point at normal pressure. The method for manufacturing the color filter is provided with a process comprised by ejecting the resin composition from an ink-jet head to respective light transmission regions on a substrate on which partitions are preliminarily formed, subsequently driving it and forming a pixel pattern.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture element pattern with sufficient hardness and prevent the falling and defect of the pattern and the undercut of the pattern section by including thermal acid generator and acid crosslinking compound as essential components. SOLUTION: This radiation sensitive composition for a color filter contains a coloring agent, binder polymer, multifunctional monomer, photopolymerization initiator, thermal acid generator and acid crosslinking compound. The thermal acid generator is a compound to generate an acid by heating, preferably sulfonium salt, benzothiazolium salt, etc. The acid crosslinking compound is a compound to cause crosslinking reaction with the effect of the acid generated by the thermal acid generator by heating, preferably a compound which has two or more univalent organic groups (methylol groups) represented by the formula -CH2 -O-R in molecules. In the formula, R is a hydrogen atom or a 1-6C, preferably 1-4C alkyl group.
