PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal aligning agent for a liquid crystal display device to obtain a liquid crystal alignment layer having excellent burning characteristics even when not only an ITO but a reflective electrode is used, and to provide a liquid crystal display device having a liquid crystal alignment layer obtained from the agent. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal aligning agent comprises 100 parts by weight of a polymer having an amic acid repeating unit and an imide repeating unit, with the proportion of the amic acid repeating unit by 40 to 60% by weight in the entire repeating units, and at least 5 parts by weight of a compound having at least two epoxy groups in the molecule. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal alignment agent to form a liquid crystal alignment layer, which aligns liquid crystal molecules without decomposition on the layer surface in a direction parallel with the polarization direction of the polarized light pulse laser and independent of the irradiation energy in the case it is formed in a film shape and is irradiated with the polarized light pulse laser. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal alignment agent forms a liquid crystal alignment layer to which alignment controllability over liquid crystal molecules is provided by irradiation with polarized light pulse laser, which has no synchronized projecting and recessing parts caused by the irradiation with the polarized light pulse laser on its surface and which is provided with a function to align the liquid crystal molecules in parallel with the polarization direction of the irradiated polarized light pulse laser. Preferably, it comprises a polyamic acid or a polyimide composed of a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride and a ring- structured diamine compound.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal aligning agent producing a liquid crystal alignment layer which has a high voltage holding ratio while exhibiting excellent alignment characteristics. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal aligning agent is composed of a polymer having a polyamic acid bond unit and an imide bond unit, wherein the ratio of the number of the polyamic acid bond unit to the sum of the number of the polyamic acid bond unit and the number of the imide bond unit is 40-80% and the ratio of the number of the imide bond unit derived from 2,3,5-tricarboxy cyclopentylacetic acid dianhydride to the number of the total imide bond unit is 80% or more. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal aligning agent which aligns liquid crystal molecules perpendicular to the rubbing direction by certain rubbing treatment to generate 0 deg. pretilt angle, which has good baking property and a high voltage holding rate, and/or which aligns liquid crystal molecules parallel to the polarization direction by the aligning treatment by irradiation of polarized pulse laser. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal aligning agent contains at least one kind of polymer selected from a group consisting of polyamic acid obtained by the reaction of tetracarboxylic acid dianhydrides expressed by formula (I) and diamine compounds and consisting of imidized polymers obtained by dehydrating and ring closing the above polyamic acid. In formula (I), R1 and R2 are same or different and each represents a univalent organic group or halogen atom, each of a and b is an integer 0 to 5, and when a plurality of R1 and R2 are present, they may be same or different.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an alkylfluorenediamine as a novel compound having a long-chain alkyl group, as well as a polyamic acid and an imidated polymer obtained by using the same, and in addition, a liquid crystal oriented film whose orientation direction cuts the rubbing direction at right angles and which has a pretilt angle of 0 deg., good sticking and a high voltage retention, to provide its manufacturing method, and a liquid crystal display element having the liquid crystal oriented film. SOLUTION: The alkylfluorenediamine is represented by formula (A) (wherein (n) is an integer of 6-20), and the polyamic acid and the imidated polymer can be obtained by using this compound as the diamine component. The liquid crystal orienting agent is composed of these polymers, and the liquid crystal oriented film and its manufacturing method are disclosed. The liquid crystal display element has this liquid crystal oriented film.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal orientating agent imparting parallel orientating capability to a liquid crystalline molecule by irradiating polarization pulsed laser and having performance to impart a thermally stable pretilting angle thereto, and to provide a polymer for the orientating agent and a manufacturing method of the polymer. SOLUTION: Polyamic acid or polyimide is obtained by reacting a tetracarboxylic acid with at least two kinds of diamine compounds. The liquid crystal orientating agent comprises the polyamic acid or the polyimide, and a liquid crystal orientated film is manufactured by irradiating the polarization pulsed laser to the surface of a coating obtained from the orientating agent.

SOLUTION: This aligning agent is composed of a polymer having an amic acid repeating unit and an imide repeating unit, and the amic acid repeating unit accounts for 70-90 mol%, and the imide repeating unit contains at least any one of at least one repeating unit selected from the group consisting of a repeating unit represented by formula (A) and a repeating unit represented by formula (B), and at least one repeating unit selected from the group consisting of a repeating unit represented by formula (C) and a repeating unit represented by formula (D) in the range of 5-50 mol%.
