    Abstract: A process for producing a linear polyester comprising a main structural unit of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid ester of an alkylene glycol, particularly, comprising a polyethylene terephthalate or polytetramethylene terephthalate unit, is provided. In the process of the invention, the polycondensation reaction is conducted in the presence of a niobic acid catalyst that is obtained by heat-treating a hydrated niobium compound at the temperature range between 80 DEG C and 400 DEG C. The process of the invention is also effectively applied to the manufacture of an elastomeric polyester comprising a polyalkylene terephthalate as a hard segment and a polyalkylene glycol as a soft segment.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide an under coating layer excellent in adhesive properties and antistatic properties and of a total water system by containing a specific conductive polymer and a water soluble and/or water-disperse polyester copolymer. CONSTITUTION:At least a conductive polymer having repeating units expressed by the formula, and a water-soluble and/or water-disperse polyester copolymer are contained in a plastic film as under coating layer compositions. In the formula, M represents a cation of valence 1 and (n) represents an integer of 1 to 3. The conductive polymer may be composed of only the repeating units expressed by the formula or may be a copolymer having other repeating units only if at least the repeating units expressed by the formula are contained in its constituent units. A water primer liquid having the under coating layer compositions is applied to at least one side of a polyester film before crystal orientation is completed, and the film is dried, rolled and cured by heat so that crystal orientation is completed.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To rapidly produce a polyester having improved hue and thermal stability and high polymerization degree, by polycondensing a diglycol ester of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid (precondensate) in the presence of a specific compound as a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:(A) Preferably 0.001-0.5wt%, based on an acid component of the resultant polyester, compound expressed by the formula (X is CH2, C3H6, C4H8, C5H10, etc.; R is phenyl) is added to (B) terephthalic acid and (C) a glycol, e.g. ethylene glycol, and polycondensation is carried out at, e.g. 270-290 deg.C, to afford the aimed polyester.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester container excellent in easy tear propagation properties by using an oriented polyethylene naphthalate film specified in the refractive index and thickness in its thickness direction and based on naphthalene dicarboxylic acid and ethylene glycol. SOLUTION: A polyester container is composed of an oriented polyethylene naphthalate film based on naphthalene dicarboxylic acid and ethylene glycol and characterized by that a refractive index in the thickness direction thereof is 1.58 or less and, further pref., average tear strength at least in one direction is 0.30(kgf/mm) or less. The thickness of the oriented film is pref. 5-100μm and, as a naphthalene dicarboxylic acid component, a 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid component is especially pref. As a polycondensation method, a usual polyester polymerization method can be utilized and a direct polymerization method using dicarboxylic acid and diol and an ester exchange method using dimethyl dicarboxylate and diol are pref.
