The present invention relates to a porous base matrix having formyl group, which base matrix has a structure represented by the formula (2) as a spacer, which structure is obtained by cleaving a group represented by the formula (1): wherein, R 1 represents a group forming a five-membered ring or a six-membered ring with -CH (OH) -CH (OH) -; a method for producing the porous base matrix; and an adsorbent obtained by binding a ligand on the porous base matrix. By the present invention, a high-intensity base matrix for an adsorbent and an adsorbent are provided. The amount of a ligand leaked from the adsorbend is small.

The present invention relates to a method for producing a formyl group-containing porous base matrix, comprising the steps of introducing a spacer in a formyl group-containing porous particle; and then oxidizing the spacer with periodic acid and/or a periodate, to transform the part of the spacer into a formyl group; wherein the formyl group content in the porous particle after introduction of the spacer is not more than 3 µmol per 1 mL of the porous particle. Also, the present invention relates to a method for producing an adsorbent, comprising the step of immobilizing an amino group-containing ligand on the formyl group-containing porous base matrix. According to the present invention, a formyl-group containing porous base matrix and an adsorbent produced from the porous base matrix of which adsorption amount is high and which is has high strength and of which ligand is difficult to be leaked are provided.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To conveniently and inexpensively provide a porous carrier which has strength capable of purifying an antibody and the like without problems on a large scale and under a high linear velocity and has a large amount of adsorption of a substance to be purified; an adsorbent for purification using the same; a manufacturing method thereof; and a purifying method using the same.SOLUTION: The present invention provides: a porous carrier having the compressive stress of 0.01 MPa to 1 MPa at the time of 5% compression, the compressive stress of 0.03 MPa to 3 MPa at the time of 10% compression, and the compressive stress of 0.06 MPa to 5 MPa at the time of 15% compression; the adsorbent for purification using the same; the manufacturing method thereof; and the purification method using the same. As a preferred embodiment, the porous carrier can have larger strength by acting a long chain cross-linking agent having a functionality of 2 or higher. The present invention makes it possible to purify an antibody and the like on a large scale, at a high speed, and a low cost.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide easily and at low cost a porous carrier which has a strength enough to purify an antibody or the like in large scale and under a high linear velocity and of which the adsorption amount of a purification target object is large, an adsorbent for purification using the same, a manufacturing method of the same and a purification method using the same.SOLUTION: A porous carrier, an adsorbent for purification using the same, a manufacturing method of the same and a purification method using the same are disclosed. Regarding the porous carrier, a compression stress under compression of 5% is 0.01 MPa or more and 1 MPa or less, a compression stress under compression of 10% is 0.03 MPa or more and 3 MPa or less and a compression stress under compression of 15% is 0.06 MPa or more and 5 MPa or less. A strength of the porous carrier can be increased by action of two or more functionalities of a long-chain crosslinking agent. An antibody or the like can be purified in large scale, at high speed and at low cost.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous carrier which has strength to be capable of conducting the purification of antibody and the like with large scale and under high wire-speed without problems and which has a large amount of adsorption of the substance to be purified; to provide an adsorbent for purification using the same; to provide a manufacturing method thereof; and to simply and inexpensively provide the purification process using the same. SOLUTION: The porous carrier is characterized in that: the compression stress at 5% compression is from 0.01 MPa or more to 1 MPa or less; the compression stress at 10% compression is from 0.03 MPa or more to 3 MPa or less; and the compression stress at 15% compression is from 0.06 MPa or more to 5 MPa or less. Also the adsorbent using the same, the manufacturing method thereof and the purification method using the same are provided. As a preferable embodiment, the strength of the porous carrier can be enlarged by causing a long-chain cross-linker with two or more functions to act.
