Abstract: The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for simply and easily producing porous cellulose beads having high mechanical strength without using a toxic and highly corrosive auxiliary starting material and without including a complicated process that is commercially disadvantageous. A method for producing porous cellulose beads of the present invention is characterized in that a cellulose dispersion liquid, which is obtained by mixing an alkaline aqueous solution at a low temperature with cellulose, is brought into contact with a coagulation solvent.
