    Abstract: A process for the production of pearlescent detergents which comprises adding a melt of component (B) or an aqueous liquid containing the melt to a suspension of component (A) and cooling the obtained mixture to precipitate the component (B); and detergents produced by the process: Component (A): an ester component consisting of ethylene glycol alkyl esters wherein a distribution of numbers of carbon atoms may exist among the constituent fatty acids and the ratio of constituent fatty acids having 18 or more carbon atoms to the whole constituent fatty acid component is less than 70 wt%, and Component (B): an ester component consisting of ethylene glycol alkyl esters wherein a distribution of numbers of carbon atoms may exist among the constituent fatty acids and the ratio of constituent fatty acids having 18 or more carbon atoms to the whole constituent fatty acid component is 70 wt% or above. According to the invention, pearlescent detergents excellent in stability of pearling agents, particularly in long-term storage stability under acid conditions and high-temperature conditions can be produced at low cost.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cosmetic for hair useful for improving an optical or dynamic property of the hair such as brightness, pliability, tension, stiffness of hair or the like by including glycine, an α-hydroxy acid, a cationic surfactant or the like. SOLUTION: This cosmetic for hair is obtained by including, preferably in the total composition, (A) 0.1-5 wt.% glycine or alanine, (B) 0.1-2 wt.% α- hydorxy acid, β-hydroxy acid, 1,2-dicarboxylic acid, 1,3-dicarboxylic acid or aromatic carboxylic acid, (C) 0.5-5 wt.% cationic surfactant, preferably (D) a higher alcohol in a mol amount of 3-10 times that of the component C, (E) 0.1-5 wt.% silicones. Preferably the component C is a quaternary ammonium salt shown by formula I (R1, R2, R3 and R4 are each an 8-28C alkoxy or the like; Z- is a halogen ion or the like). Preferably the component E is a methyl polysiloxane shown by formula II (R5 is methyl or phenyl; R6 is hydroxy or the like; m is 100-2,000).
