The present invention also provides a method of producing the compound represented by the formula (2) by incubating perspiration originated from a human in an environment with an oxygen concentration of 10 v/v% or less. The present invention also provides a kit for assessing body odor of a human, wherein the kit for assessing body odor of a human includes a coloration reagent which reacts with beta -hydroxycarboxylic acid originated from perspiration of a human. wherein R is an alkyl having 1 to 4 carbons; R is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl having 1 to 4 carbons, and the total number of carbons in the formula (1) is 10 or less; wherein R is a hydrogen atom or methyl group; R is an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbons; and R is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, the total number of carbons is 8 or less.
Abstract:
An indicator for assessing body odor containing at least one member selected from the group consisting of: a component (A) which is a beta-hydroxycarboxylic acid compound represented by the following general formula (1); a component (B) which is a derivative of the above compound represented by the general formula (1); a component (C) which is an alcohol compound having a mercapto group at the 3-position as represented by the following general formula (2); and a component (D) which is a derivative of the above compound represented by the general formula (2). Also it is intended to provide a process for producing the above compound represented by the general formula (2) which comprises incubating human-origin perspiration in an environment with an oxygen concentration of 10 v/v% or below. Further, it is intended to provide a kit for assessing human body odor which contains a color developing reagent reacting with a human perspiration-origin beta-hydroxycarboxylic acid. General formula (1) wherein R represents C1-4 alkyl; and R represents hydrogen or C1-4 alkyl, provided that the total carbon atom number is not more than 10. General formula (2) wherein R represents hydrogen or methyl; R represents C1-3 alkyl; and R represents hydrogen or methyl, provided that the total carbon atom number is not more than 8.
Abstract:

Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deodorant composition having excellent deodorization effect on the smell of roast fish. SOLUTION: The deodorization composition having an excellent deodorization effect on the smell of roast fish contains a specific highly volatile aromatic agent such as cis-3-hexenol or the like, a specific low volatile aromatic agent such as γ-undecalactone or the like, and a specific moderate polar solvent such as benzyl acetate. In addition, the deodorization composition preferably contains a specific polyhydroxy amine compound. In a method for determining deodorization effect on the smell of roast fish and in a method for screening a deodorization agent for the smell of roast fish, 4,5-epoxy-2-alkenals having a carbon number of 7-10 is used as an indicator material of the smell of roast fish. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evaluate the presence or the absence and the intensity of the odor of apocrine, which especially many people worry about among body odors, objectively and quantitatively, and to quickly and easily and surely evaluate the type of body odor and the extent of odor. SOLUTION: The index substance for a body odor contains at least one compound selected from among a group of alcohols (1), having a thiol group at the 3-position thereof, as shown by Formula (1) and their labeled compounds, wherein R 1 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, R 2 is an alkyl group, having the number of carbon atoms of 1 to 3, R 3 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, and the total number of carbon atoms in the formula (1) is not more than eight. A kit for evaluating a human body odor contains a color reagent which reacts with an alcohol compound, having a thiol group at the 3-position thereof originating in human sweat.
