    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin compsn. of a high water absorption, in which a high water-absorbing resin is stable and not decomposed or deteriorated even in the presence of water or an aq. soln. contg. a radical-forming compd. such as L-ascorbic acid or a salt thereof or a transition metal ion such as ion or copper ion, and which has high gel strength and liquid permeability after the swelling. SOLUTION: This compsn. comprises: (A) 100 pts.wt. resin of a high water absorption, and (B) 0.01 to 10 pts.wt. fine powder of a hydrous metal oxide aggregate comprising (a) one or two metals selected from the group consisting of titanium and zirconium and (b) one or two metals selected from the group consisting of zinc, aluminum, calcium, magnesium and silicon. The molar ratio of (a) to (b) in (B) is 30/70 to 99/1.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a polymer particle by using a specific anionic surfactant as a dispersant for a dispersion system of a hydrophobic organic solvent inert to polymerization and an aqueous solution of a water-soluble polymerizable monomer, useful as a water absorbing resin high in stability and excellent in water absorption properties and liquid permeability. CONSTITUTION: (A) A hydrophobia organic solvent (e.g. n-pentane, n-hexane, benzene, n-butyl alcohol, etc.) inert to polymerization and (B) an aqueous solution of a water-soluble polymerizable monomer [especia11y preferably an olefin- based unsaturated carboxylic acid, its alkali salt, more preferably (meth)acrylic acid, etc.] are used and polymerization is carried out in the presence of (C) an anionic surfactant (R is a straight-chain or branched chain 5-29C alkyl, alkenyl or 2-hydroxyalkyl; M and M are each an alkali metal ion, ammonium ion or H; (n) is 1 or 2). The amount of the component C is 0.01-10 pts. wt., preferably 0.05-1 pt.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the component B.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title resin having specific two kinds of recurring units and having excellent transparency and moldability comparable to PET and exhibiting barrier properties to oxygen and steam superior to PET. CONSTITUTION:The objective resin consisting of 0-95mol% unit expressed by formula I ((m) is 2-10) and 5-100mol% unit expressed by formula II. The resin is preferably obtained by copolymerizing a dicarboxylic component consisting of 0-95mol% terephthalic acid (derivative) and 5-100mol% (2-hydroxy-2- oxoethoxy)benzoic acid (derivative) with a dial component consisting of a 2-1-C straight-chain aliphatic acid glycol. As the glycol, e.g. ethylene glycol or trimethylene glycol is used. Furthermore, in the objective resin, the intrinsic viscosity measured at 25 deg.C in a mixed solution of phenol/tetrachloroethane (of 60/40wt. ratio) is preferably >=0.5g/d.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a uniform vessel which possesses transparency and is superior in barrier properties to gas, steam and ultraviolet rays, by a method wherein the title vessel is comprised of at least two layers of thermoplastic polyester of ethylene terephthalate and a thermoplastic polyesterblend layer. CONSTITUTION:A multi-layer plastic vessel is constituted of at least two layers of a thermoplastic polyester layer (layer A) at least 80mol% of which is ethylene terephthalate as a repeating unit and a thermoplastic polyesterblend layer (layer B) consisting essentially of thermoplastic polyester (a) at least 70mol% of which is ethylene isophthalate as a repeating unit and thermoplastic polyester (b) at least 80mol% of which is ethylene naphthalate as a repeating unit. Then to manufacture this multi-layer plastic vessel, a preform comprised of at least two layers A, B is molded by injection molding and the title vessel is obtained by performing orientation blow molding in at least a uniaxial direction within a temperature range of 80-120 deg.C.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a highly water-absorptive resin composition that contains a highly water-absorptive resin and specific titanium dioxide, has excellent water absorptivity, does not decompose/deteriorate even when kept in hydrous condition by absorbing a hydrous liquid, urea, or the like, and is useful for paper diapers, etc. SOLUTION: This highly water-absorptive resin composition comprises (A) 100 pts.wt. of a highly water-absorptive resin, and (B) 0.01-10 pts.wt. of titanium dioxide having crystal form of anatase type, average particle size of 0.1μm or less, preferably 0.03μm or less, and specific surface area of 50m /g or more, preferably 200m /g or more, when determined by Brunauer-Emette-Teller's method. Furthermore it is preferable for this resin composition to maintain water retention of 35g/g or more when swollen with physiological saline water for 30min and then dehydrated by centrifuging.
