Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a cosmetic free from the trouble with sweat and oil, etc., and giving a clear color tone, by using a composite alumina pigment having excellent water resistance, solvent resistance, oxidation resistance, light resistance and stability and obtained by including a pigment in porous alumina. CONSTITUTION:The objective cosmetic contains a composite alumina pigment having a particle diameter of 0.05-100mu and containing a pigment (preferably an acid dye) included in porous alumina. The porous alumina can be produced by (1) oxidizing Al (preferably an Al foil of 1-1,000mum thick) electrochemically in an electrolyte such as an aqueous solution of sulfuric acid at a constant voltage of 1-300V or a constant current density of 1-200mA/cm at 0-60 deg.C, to form an alumina layer having a number of uniform columnar pores having a diameter of 1mmu-1mu, (2) peeling the alumina layer from the Al foil and pulverizing the alumina, and (3) contacting the powder with a 0.5-25wt% solution of the pigment. Since the pigment in the cosmetic is included completely in the alumina, the irritation of the skin caused by the direct contact of the dye can be prevented, and the cosmetic has great color flexibility.

As the metal salt of alkylphosphate stated above, is preferably used needle or plate crystals of a novel compound of formula III (M' is alkaline earth metal or divalent transition metal) obtained by reaction between an alkali metal salt and an alkaline earth metal salt of alkylphosphates.

Abstract: PURPOSE:A cosmetic, e.g. a foundation, face powder or bady powder, containing an alkyl phosphate and powder therefore, having water repellency and light extensibility on the skin, scarcely causing makeup disorder, and capable of improving the moist feeling. CONSTITUTION:A cosmetic containing an alkyl phosphate of the formula (R1 and R2 are H ro 1-36C alkyl; R3 is 1-36C alkyl) and powder therefor. The cosmetic has powerful water repellency without dry feeling, improves remarkably the smoothness and moist feeling on the skin, and has good moldability in press molding. Inorganic powder, e.g. talc, titanium oxide, mica coated with iron oxide, etc. may be preferred as the powder for the cosmetic. The above-mentioned cosmetic is preferably produced by dissolving the alkyl phosphite in benzene, etc. under heating and adding the powder for the cosmetic to the resultant solution, and stirring the resultant mixture to coat the powder with the alkyl phosphite.
