Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title resin composition which can retain good water- absorptive performances and is improved in gel strength upon swelling an long- term stability of swollen gel, by mixing a water-absorptive resin with a radical chain inhibitor and a metal chelating agent in a specified ratio. CONSTITUTION:A water-absorptive resin composition is obtained by mixing a resin formed by crosslinking a water-absorptive resin, for example, polyactylate with N-N'-methylene-bisacrylamide with a radical chain inhibitor (A) such as a gallic ester or thiourea (preferably one having a solubility in water at 25 deg.C of 0.1g/100g or above) and a chelating agent (B) such as citric acid or 1,10-phenanthroline. It is preferable that the content of each of components A and B in the composition is 0.1-10wt.% based on the dry resin, and the total of components A and B is 10% or below. This composition can be desirably used as water-retaining agents for agriculture and horticulture, water cut-off agents for civil engineering and building, dehydrating agents, sanitary napkins, disposable diapers, etc.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a resin composition which can quickly absorb a large amount of an aqueous liquid and has excellent stability in a swollen state, by mixing a water-absorptive resin with a specified amine compound. CONSTITUTION:The title resin composition essentially consists of a water- absorptive resin and a phosphinic or phosphonic group-containing amine compound or its salt, wherein the content of said amine compound or salt is 0.01-10wt.% based on the dry water-absorptive resin. As said water-absorptive resin, a hydrolyzate of a starch/acrylonitrile graft polymer, a hydrolyzate of a vinyl acetate/acrylate or the like can be used, and a crosslinked polyacrylate salt is particularly desirable from the view point of water absorptivity. Examples of said amine compounds include ethylenediamine-N,N'-di(methylenephosphonic acid) and nitrilodiacetic acid-(methylenephosphonic acid). Examples of their salts include alkali metal salts, ammonium salts and amine salts.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition with high water absorptivity, excellent in gel strength when swollen and stability with time of the swollen gel therefrom, thus suitable for absorptive materials for hygienic articles etc., by incorporating a water-absorptive resin with a specified amount of a reductive substance. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition comprising, as the essential components, (A) a water-absorptive resin, pref. a polyacrylic acid salt crosslinked form and (B) a reductive substance, pref. a compound selected from sulfur-contg. inorganic compounds and marcaptan compounds. This composition can be obtained by the following process: 0.01-10pts.wt., based on 100pts.wt. of the component A (on a dry basis), of the component B is incorporated in the component A directly or in the form of an aqueous or ethanol (or the like) solution, and furthermore, if needed, followed by incorporation of a phenolic antioxidant, a radical chain reaction inhibitor, a metal chelating agent etc. The resultant blend is then dried.
