Abstract: 1495806 Aqueous dispersion KAO SOAP CO Ltd 22 May 1975 [27 May 1974] 22274/75 Heading C1A [Also in Divisions B1 and C3] A method of preparing a stable aqueous dispersion comprises dispersing a solid powder in water containing at least one dissolved dispersing agent selected from (1) hydrolysed starches, hydrolysed celluloses, and hydrolysed hemicelluloses of average molecular weight (M.W.) of 500-5000, and (2) water-soluble salts of carboxymethylated derivatives of (1) having a degree of carboxymethyl group substitution less than 3, and (3) hydrolysed products of polyuronic acids and water-soluble salts thereof having M.W. of 500-5000. The particle size of the fine powder is suitably 10 -7 to 2 Î 10 -2 cm., and may be used in from 0À005 to 400% by weight based on the weight of water, and the dispersing agent may be present at 0À005 to 80% by weight based on wt. of water. The dispersing agents (1) to (3) exhibit excellent dispersing activity to various kinds of fine powders and have excellent biodegradability. Specified inorganic dispersed powders include flowers of zinc, red iron oxide, calcium or magnesium carbonate, titanium white, aluminium hydroxide, chrome yellow, cement clay, silver halides.
