Abstract: PURPOSE:In the continuous thin-film sulfation with an SO3-containing gas, moistured air or steam is introduced into or immediately before the gas-liquid separator to effect the reaction whereby the sulfated product of an organic compound is obtained in the state of lightly colored condition. Abstract: PURPOSE:To carry out polyesterification reaction under extremely stable condition by determining the acid value of dicarboxylic acid used as a raw material, the hydroxyl value of polyhydric alcohol, esterification value of the polyester and water-content with an IR analyzer and controlling the reaction conditions using the determined values. CONSTITUTION:In the polyesterification reaction to form a polyester by the polycondensation of a polybasic carboxylic acid with a polyhydric alcohol, the acid value of the polybasic carboxylic acid used as a raw material, the hydroxyl value of the polyhydric alcohol, the esterification value of the produced polyester and the water-content are measured by a near infrared absorption spectrum analyzer at regular time intervals (preferably about 0.5-15min intervals). The temperature, pressure and nitrogen flow rate of the reaction vessel and the reaction time are automatically controlled based on the measured values. Since the fluctuation caused by the apparatus constants and external disturbance can be quickly detected by this process to take the corresponding measure (control), a polyester having designed high quality can be stably produced.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce an asphalt emulsion satisfying all the requirements of emulsion stability, aggregate miscibility, aggregate adhesivity, freeze stability and low foaming property, by adding tannic acid or tannin compound to an aqueous solution of a surfactant in the emulsification of asphalt. CONSTITUTION:The objective asphalt emulsion is composed of (A) 40-80pts.(wt.) of an asphalt such as petroleum straight asphalt, semiblown asphalt, etc., (B) 60-20pts., preferably 50-30pts. of water, (C) 0.01-10pts., preferably 0.05-5pts. of a surfactant and (D) 0.01-5pts., preferably 0.1-1pt. of tannic acid or tannin compound having a large hydrophobic group (e.g. benzene skeleton) together with a number of OH groups, e.g. kebrachio, depugit, etc., belonging to Anacardiaceae family. The emulsion can be produced e.g. by dissolving the component D in an aqueous solution (or emulsion) of the component C and emulsifying the component B in the solution.
