    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for separating polysaccharides in which an acidic polysaccharide and a neutral polysaccharide are separated simply and in high recovery rate from a mixed aqueous solution containing an acidic polysaccharide and a neutral polysaccharide. SOLUTION: This method for separating polysaccharides comprises separating an acidic polysaccharide from a neutral polysaccharide by jointly using a process in which an acidic polysaccharide is fractionated by gelling with addition of an acid and a process in which an acidic polysaccharide is fractionated by gelling with addition of a bi-valent or higher valent metal salt both to a mixed aqueous solution of polysaccharides containing an acidic polysaccharide and a neutral polysaccharide.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the subject compound useful as a coupling substance to be added to corneal fiber-dyeing compositions, and giving the composition capable of dyeing the corneal fibers such as hair into a blue color tone in a high chroma and excellent in the dyeability, discoloration resistance and washing resistance. CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula I (R , R are H, lower alkyl capable of being substituted with an OH group; Ar is substitutable aryl; m is 0-4; n is 1-4; l is 0, 1) or its salt, for example, 1,2-bis-(3,5-diamino-2-pyridyloxy)ethane.4 hydrochloride. The compound is obtained e.g. by reacting a 2-halogeno-3,5- dinitropyridine of formula II (X is halogen) with an aryl-substituted metal alkoxide of formula III (M is alkali metal; Ar' is Ar) in a solvent such as THF at a temperature of -5 deg.C to the boiling point of the solvent and subsequently reducing the product in the presence of a catalyst such as palladium carbon catalyst.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To nondestructively and accurately evaluate and predict the degree of oil bleeding on the surface of a lipstick by obtaining a T2 emphasis image or a spin density image on the cross section of the lipstick by the NMR imaging method, and using the ratio between the maximum and minimum values of the signal strength. SOLUTION: A test tube is used to suppress the vibration of a sample. In this case, glass with a shape suited for the shape of the sample, a test tube made of resin, or a sample tube for NMR, especially a sample tube made of resin or rubber being formed to the shape of a lipstick or a lipstick container, are preferable. The lipstick sample is charged into an NMR imaging device, imaging measurement is made to obtain a T2 emphasis image or a spin density image, and the signal strength of the cross section of the lipstick is obtained from the image. In general, the spin echo method or the gradient echo method is utilized as a method for imaging the inside of the lipstick. The arithmetic averaging value of the strength of each pixel is obtained, where the pixel exists within a circle of a radius (x) mm (x indicates value of 1-10% of the radius of the lipstick) with a point where the signal strength is maximized and a point where the signal strength is minimized as a center.

CONSTITUTION:Direct titration or back titration is executed by using a heterogeneous system consisting of the ionic surfactant to be inspected, the water contg. the split-phase indicator forming a complex with the surfactant and water insoluble org. solvent as a liquid to be titrated and the surfactant having the charge reverse from the charge of the surfactant or the same charge as a titrating liquid, in a method for measuring the ionic surfactant by the split-phase titration. Any among orange I, Amaranth and New Coccine is used alone as the split-phase indicator. Two kinds of the dyes which is suitable for use under the alkaline condition and the acidic condition and are approximately equal in the wavelength of the absorption maximal are otherwise previously prepd. and the dyes suitable for the respective conditions are selectively used.
