A polishing liquid composition for a silicon wafer, wherein the composition comprises silica particles (component A), at least one kind of nitrogen-containing basic compound (component B) selected from an amine compound and an ammonium compound, and a water-soluble macromolecular compound (component C) that contains 10 wt% or more of a constitutional unit I represented by a general formula (1) below and has a weight average molecular weight of 50,000 or more and 1,500,000 or less; and the pH at 25°C is 8.0 to 12.0. In the general formula (1), R 1 and R 2 each independently represents a hydrogen, a C1 to C8 alkyl group, or a C1 to C2 hydroxyalkyl group, and R 1 and R 2 are never both hydrogens.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably producing a polymer builder capable of being stably blended even with a liquid detergent containing a high concentration of a surfactant and excellent in color and odor.SOLUTION: This method for producing the polymer builder for a detergent by performing the polymerization reaction of a specific unsaturated carboxylic acid-based monomer (I) such as acrylic acid, and a specific allyl ether-based monomer (II) such as a polyethylene glycol monoallyl ether, by using a liquid reaction medium in a reaction vessel uses a liquid containing a lower alcohol as the liquid reaction medium, and includes putting-in the monomers (I) and (II) of predetermined amounts in the reaction vessel in advance before the initiation of the polymerization, and then adding the remaining monomers (I) and (II) after the initiation of the polymerization to the reaction vessel.

SOLUTION: The polymer builder for a clothing detergent is composed of a polymer compound which has a structural unit (A) derived from a specified unsaturated carboxylic acid base monomer and a structural unit (B) originated from a specified unsaturated polyalkylene oxide base monomer, and in which the mass ratio of the structural unit (A) to the structure unit (B) is 1:99 to 29:71, and the proportion of the structural unit (A) and the structural unit (B) in the whole structural unit is ≥85 mass%, or is composed of a salt of the polymer compound.
