Heat treatment or irradiation with micro waves or infrared light converts the surfaces of sodium bicarbonate particles into sodium carbonate. The surface-treated sodium bicarbonate particles exhibit an increased capacity to bind with other sodium bicarbonate particles as well as with other components when they are molded. They can be used as an excellent binder for molding various preparations. The products produced have a prolonged storage stability.

Abstract: A sterile bag that is suitable for accommodating medical instruments with sharp edges, such as knives and forceps, enabling effective inhibition of undesired opening and breakage accidents attributed to contact with sharp tip portions. In particular, a sterile bag comprising a gas-permeable substrate and a synthetic resin film whose side edges and lower end portions are bonded together with an open portion left at an upper part, which sterile bag at the lower end portion or in the vicinity thereof is provided with breakage prevention means for preventing breakage of at least one member selected from among the gas-permeable substrate, the synthetic resin film and the portion at which the gas-permeable substrate and the synthetic resin film are bonded together through catching or accepting the tip portion of accommodated items. For example, there can be mentioned a mode wherein there is provided a laminate of protective member constituted of a synthetic resin or a mode wherein there is provided an evaginated portion formed by mountain folding or valley folding of side film constituted of a synthetic resin at the lower end portion of sterile bag or in the vicinity thereof.
