Abstract: There are provided a water dispersion for ink-jet printing which contains a water dispersion of particles of a vinyl polymer or a polyester-based polymer which contain a colorant (B), and a water-insoluble organic compound (A) except for aliphatic acid derivatives; a water-based ink containing the water dispersion; a print obtainable by printing images or characters with the water-based ink; and a process for producing the water dispersion. Also, there are provided an ink set for ink-jet printing containing two or more kinds of inks having different colors from each other wherein the inks each contain a water dispersion of particles of a vinyl polymer or a polyester-based polymer which contain a colorant (B), and a water-insoluble organic compound (A) except for aliphatic acid derivatives; and a process for producing a print using the ink set. The water-based ink can provide multi-order color images or composite black images which exhibits a high optical density and is excellent in gloss and image clarity.

Heat treatment or irradiation with micro waves or infrared light converts the surfaces of sodium bicarbonate particles into sodium carbonate. The surface-treated sodium bicarbonate particles exhibit an increased capacity to bind with other sodium bicarbonate particles as well as with other components when they are molded. They can be used as an excellent binder for molding various preparations. The products produced have a prolonged storage stability.

Abstract: There are provided a water-based ink for ink-jet printing which not only satisfies a high optical density but also is excellent in gloss and image clarity upon printing on a coated paper; a water dispersion used in the water-based ink; and a process for producing the water dispersion. The present invention relates to a water dispersion for ink-jet printing comprising colorant containing water-insoluble polymer particles which is obtainable by mixing at least two kinds of water-insoluble polymer particles (A) and (B) which are different in average particle size from each other, wherein said polymer particles (A) have an average particle size of 70 to 200 nm and said polymer particles (B) have an average particle size of 15 to 110 nm with the proviso that the average particle size of the polymer particles (A) is larger than that of the polymer particles (B), and a difference between the average particle sizes of the polymer particles (A) and (B) is 10 nm or more; a process for production of the water dispersion; and a water-based ink containing the water dispersion.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for evaluating the water supplying capability of a structure which lies below the stratum corneum epidermidis and is formed of living cells by using a water transpiration amount, which comprises means for feeding, from a gas inlet, a carrier gas having certain properties to a skin surface to be measured; means for measuring, by a humidity sensor, humidity of the carrier gas which has been discharged from a gas exhaust, passing over the skin surface to be measured; and means for calculating the water transpiration amount in accordance with a response to the sensor and calculating, by a predetermined analyzing method, the water vapor partial pressure of the structure which lies below the stratum corneum epidermidis and is formed of living cells.
