    Abstract: Provided is a dentifrice which exhibits sufficient shape retentivity even when a polymer-based binder is not incorporated, which does not leave a taste or white residues even when the amount of powder incorporated is small, and which has satisfactory dispersibility in the oral cavity and a light feeling of use. A dentifrice containing the following components (A), (B) and (C): (A) 0.1 to 10 % by mass of a thickening silica having an oil absorption of 150 to 500 mL/100 g, (B) 0.1 to 8 % by mass of heavy calcium carbonate, and (C) 40 to 70 % by mass of water at a mass ratio (B:A) of the component (B) and the component (A) of 2:1 to 0.5:99.5.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tooth-brushing composition suppressed with unpleasant taste, etc.
    SOLUTION: This tooth-brushing composition contains (A) powdery cellulose, (B) menthol and/or a surfactant and (C) an organic acid or its salt. By using the powdery cellulose, a strange taste can be effectively suppressed. It is preferable to contain approximately 0.1-10 mass% powdery cellulose, 0.01-1 mass% menthol, 0.1-5 mass% surfactant and 0.01-5 mass% organic acid or its salt (as the acid). It is also possible to suppress the strange taste occurring on using sorbitol as a humectant. In the case of using the composition as the tooth-brushing agent, it is preferable to use further an abrasive and a binder.
