    Abstract: PURPOSE:To simultaneously and effectively remove the 2-methyl isoborneol, diosmine, etc., which are the cause for the malodorous taste in city water by utilizing styrene grafted fibers as the filter medium of the water purifier. CONSTITUTION:The filter medium consisting essentially of the styrene grafted fiber formed by graft polymerizing styrene into fibers which can be grafted is disposed in the water purifier. The fibers which can be grafted wit the styrene are exemplified by cellulose, acryl, rayon, polyethylene, polypropylene, etc. The embodiments of this water purifier include the dipping type of enveloping the styrene grafted fiber in a nonwoven fabric or paper for tea bags or putting the fibers into a plastic container bored with the holes to allow the passage of water and charging such envelope or container into the potable water put into a pitcher, pot, kettle, cup, etc., or the molding of a filter type by mixing the styrene grafted fibers with an adhesive to serve as a binder and fibers and subjecting the mixture to a treatment, such as heating.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a household water purifying device at a low cost by laminating an unwoven cloth having a specified basis weight and an apparent density consisting of an active carbon fiber and a synthetic binder fiber and use it as the filter medium. CONSTITUTION:The active carbon fiber (e.g. pitch base active carbon fiber 1) and the synthetic binder fiber (e.g. conjugate fiber of a high melting polypropylene and low melting polyethylene having core/sheath structure) are mixed and screened, and fused to obtain the unwoven cloth having 50-200g/m basis weight and 0.03-0.15g/cm apparent density laminated and used as the filter medium. For example, a filter type water purifying device is made from the unwoven cloth 1, paper 2, nylon mesh 8 and vessel 4. Consequently, the household water purifying device is obtained at a low cost.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a removing matter capable of removing only a chlorine smell by injecting an acetic acid solution of chitosan having specific properties in an alkali solution from a nozzle to spin the same into fibrous chitosan having a specific diameter and subjecting said chitosan to a dry nonwoven fabric forming process or wet papermaking process. CONSTITUTION:An acetic acid solution of chitosan of which the deacetilation degree is 60% or more and the viscosity measured when chitosan is dissolved in a 1% acetic acid solution in a ratio of 35wt.% is 1000-25000cps (30 deg.C) is prepared. This solution is injected in an alkali solution from a nozzle to perform spinning. The diameter of fibrous chitosan is set to 5-80mum. This fibrous chitosan is subjected to a dry nonwoven fabric forming process or wet papermaking process as it is or along with other fiber. In this case, fibrous chitosan and a natural fiber such as a wood pulp fiber are desirably used in a specific ratio. By this method, a chlorine smell removing matter not removing other substances such as trihalomethane type substance, heavy metals or org. matter in tap water but selectively removing only a chlorine smell can be obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To extremely reduce the whirling-up of a water-insoluble substance by using a special perforated film as the covering sheet of the filter material of a water purifier for tap water. CONSTITUTION:The covering sheet of the filter material for a water purifier is composed of a hydrophobic film having a top part 1, bottom parts 2 and wall parts 3 connecting them. The top part 1 forms the main body of the covering sheet, and a large number of recessed parts consisting of the bottom parts 2 and the wall parts 3 form opening parts by providing openings 4 to the wall parts 3 locally. By using this hydrophobic film as the covering sheet of the filter material for a water purifying filter, a filter reducing the whirling-up of dust and having good water passing properties is obtained.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing method capable of sufficiently withdrawing the washing ability of a detergent composition and exhibiting an improved washing power, when a conventional detergent composition for clothes is used to wash the clothes to be washed, and to provide a washing device therefor.
