Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a new coated superfine powdery silicate by coating the surface of a superfine powdery laminar silicate with an amide group-containing resin, having a wide use due to exhibition of compatibility with monomers, various solvents and resins. CONSTITUTION: The surface of a superfine powdery silicate (preferably montmorillonite-based clay mineral) released into a single layer and/or several layer units is coated with an amide group-containing resin (preferably nylon 6) to give the objective superfine powdery silicate coated wit an amide group- containing resin. The silicate is obtained by treating the surface of the superfine powdery silicate with an ammonium salt of an ω-aminoalkylcarboxylic acid such as 4-amino-n-butyric acid and blending 100 pts.wt of the silicate with a monomer of a precursor for the amide group-containing resin such as ε- caprolactam under conditions to give 1-300 pts.wt. of the formed amount of the coating amide group-containing resin while heating.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To produce a composition having improved antistatic properties, by introducing previously a quaternary ammonium ion structure component to at least one component, blending a polyalkylene oxide-containing block copolymer with an organic polymer.
CONSTITUTION: A composition comprising (A) a block copolymer obtained by adding 10W90wt% polyalkylene oxide compound containing one or more (preferably two) ester- or amide-forming groups during synthesis of a polyester, etc. and (B) an organic polymer such as BET, nylon, etc., obtained by introducing previously an ammonium structure to a polyalkylene oxide chain of the component A, or by using a compound having an ammonium structure as a copolymerizable component of the component A or the component B, introducing a quaternary ammonium ion structure component to at least one of the components A and B, followed by blending the component A with the component B. Preferably the composition contains ≥1wt% polyalkylene oxide segment and ≥50 equivalents/ton quaternary ammonium ion.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve magnetic powder dispersibility, durability and surface smoothness by using a specific polyurethane resin as a binder. CONSTITUTION:The polyurethane resin having at least >=1 respectively among 3 kinds of polar groups; SO3M group, COOM group (M is H, Li, Na or K) and OH group in the molecular chain is used. A magnetic recording medium is produced by coating a magnetic paint for which the polyurethane resin is used as the binder and to which pulverous ferromagnetic powder and additive, etc. are added together with an org. solvent, on a non-magnetic substrate and drying the coating. The ratio of the binder and the pulverous ferromagnetic powder is 10-100pts.wt., more preferably 20-50pts.wt. by 100pts.wt. pulverous ferromagnetic powder. The mechanical strength and wear resistance are not enough if the ratio of the binder is below 10pts.wt. The magnetic powder density in the magnetic layer decreases and the satisfactory performance (reproduced output, etc.) as the magnetic recording medium is not obtainable if the ratio of the binder is increased to 100pts.wt. or above.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a composition containing a specific laminar silicate and an amide group-having resin, free from any bond such as an ionic bond between them and having a tensile modulus of elasticity which is improved without deteriorating stretchability. CONSTITUTION: This is a resin composition capable of being peeled by a single layer and/or by several layers, having an average laminar distance of >=40Å and composed of a laminar silicate and an amide group-containing resin. The laminar silicate has been treated by an organic modification with an organic surface-treating agent consisting of a quaternary ammonium compound of formula I (R to R are each an alkyl, an aryl or an alkylaryl free from a polar group such as an amide, an ester, an amine, OH, a carboxyl, etc.; the total number of the carbons of the four substituents is >=24) or a tertiary ammonium compound of formula II (R to R are each an alkyl, an aryl or an alkylaryl having no polar group and the total number of the carbons of the three substituents is >=24). In this composition, none of an ionic bond, a covalent bond, a hydrogen bond, etc., is observed between these compounds.
