Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface treatment agent for paper such as coating base paper, and a lightweight coated paper having high glossiness and obtained by applying the surface treatment agent to a paper. SOLUTION: The surface treatment agent for paper contains a cationic group-containing copolymer obtained by polymerizing a specific vinyl monomer and a specific cationic group-containing vinyl monomer at a specific molar ratio or polymerizing the specific vinyl monomer with the specific cationic group-containing vinyl monomer and a crosslinkable vinyl monomer at a specific molar ratio. The coated paper is constituted by applying a coating liquid containing a pigment and an adhesive as main ingredients to a base paper coated with the cationic group-containing copolymer. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing coated paper by which an increase in density can be inhibited and a supple hand touch feeling can be imparted to the coated paper. SOLUTION: The method for producing the coated paper includes: a coating step of coating uncoated base paper containing a fiber binding inhibitor with a coating liquid containing at least a pigment to obtain coated paper before calendering; and a calendering step of regulating the moisture content of the coated paper before the calendering to ≤5.5 wt.% and carrying out the calendering treatment thereof. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a solid paper quality-improving agent, by which the solid paper quality-improving agent which has a bulkiness-imparting effect, is excellent in a sizing property, and can improve productivity on the production of paper due to a low water-holding property in a paper-making process can be produced. SOLUTION: This method for producing the solid paper quality-improving agent has the step of reacting an amide amine composition (a) having an imidazoline content of 0 to 10% and obtained by reacting a 10 to 24C fatty acid and/or its ester (b) with polyethylenepolyamine (c), with epichlorohydrin at 50 to 140°C. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dispersion maintaining agent for hydraulic composition that excels in both fluidity retention and viscosity retention, and to provide a dispersion maintaining agent that exhibits excellent fluidity retention and viscosity retention without depending on the type of hydraulic powder.SOLUTION: The dispersion maintaining agent for hydraulic composition comprises a copolymer obtained by polymerizing a specific monomer 1 represented by general formula (1) and a specific monomer 2 represented by general formula (2) in which a corresponding alcohol compound satisfies a specific property. In the constituent monomers of the copolymer, the ratio of the monomers 1 is within a specific range, and a specific monomer is used as at least some of the monomers 2, and the ratio of a monomer having an acid group or a group resulting from neutralization thereof is 5 wt.% or below.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing coated paper by which the coated paper having good glossiness can be obtained even when a calendering treatment is carried out. SOLUTION: The method for producing the coated paper includes: a coating step of coating uncoated base paper having ≤4 wt.% of moisture content with a coating liquid containing at least a pigment in a prescribed coating amount to obtain coated paper before calendering; and a calendering step of applying the calendering treatment to the coated paper before the calendering.
