Abstract: A column-oriented data management system for managing the access control of large and sparse tables and a method thereof are provided to perform various data access methods for high capacity sparse tables. A right management device(114) manages the access right for a column and a cell within a user table. In addition, the right management device manages a right by which a user authorized by a user management device(113) is able to read and write data in the table. A data management device(112) manages the data which can be processed based on a cell that has multiple values in one column, and provides the storage, deletion, change and search functions for the stored data based on the column.
