Abstract: A performance monitor of the optical signal and a method thereof restoring the optical signal according to the performance of the optical signal are provided to improve the reliability of optical network and monitor the performance of the degraded optical signal at each node. A signal extraction part(100) extracts the signal of the specific wave among the inputted optical signal. A photo-electro transform part(110) converts the optical signal of the specific wave extracted from the signal extraction part into the electric signal. An overhead interpreter(120) determines the performance degradation of signal. According to the interpretation result of the extracted overhead, the controller(130) monitors the performance of the optical signal.
